Gabriel Sánchez Toledo est né à Cabaiguán en 1973. Il étudie la peinture à l'école d'art Samuel Feijoo de la province de Villa Clara, où il obtient son diplôme en juin 2001. La même année, il obtient le prix académique de l'Institut supérieur d’Art et de l’Académie San Alejandro de La Havane.

Il a créé, par le biais de l’abstraction, un langage artistique unique et authentique. Il est reconnu pour ses réinterprétations de nature conceptuelle et formelle et le renouvellement qu’il apporte au genre traditionnel de la peinture de paysages. C'est une œuvre avec une empreinte très personnelle, proche de l'abstraction figurative, presque expressionniste où composition et conceptualisation onirique des paysages font entrer littéralement le spectateur dans des espaces  irréels.

Gabriel Sánchez Toledo enchaîne depuis 2003 les expositions personnelles et collectives à Cuba mais également aux Etats-Unis. En 2015, à l'occasion de la douzième biennale de La Havane son exposition personnelle “out Safari” (Zone Franche) a été très remarquée.

Gabriel Sánchez Toledo was born in Cabaiguán in 1973. He studied painting at the Samuel Feijoo art school in the province of Villa Clara, where he graduated in June 2001. In the same year, he obtained the academic prize for l '' Higher Institute of Art and Academy of San Alejandro de La Havana.

He created, through abstraction, a unique and authentic artistic language. He is recognized for his conceptual and formal reinterpretations and the renewal he brings to the traditional genre of landscape painting. It is a work with a very personal imprint, close to figurative abstraction, almost expressionist where composition and dreamlike conceptualization of landscapes literally bring the viewer into unreal spaces.

Gabriel Sánchez Toledo has had a series of solo and group exhibitions since 2003 in Cuba but also in the United States. In 2015, on the twelfth Havana Biennale, his personal exhibition “out Safari” (Free Zone) was very noticed.
