Né à Holguin, Cuba, en 1973. Il fréquente l’École Élémentaire des Arts Plastiques de Holguín à Cuba puis l’École Supérieure de la même ville et enfin l’Institut Supérieure d’Art de la Havane.

Artiste conceptuel qui, contrairement aux représentants orthodoxes d'une telle tendance, a toujours intentionnellement préféré "altérer" ses œuvres avec des contenus sociologiques, religieux et politiques. Son conceptualisme est guidé par des questionnements sur la vie sociale cubaine. Artiste intellectuel, rationnel et analytique, il tend manifestement à prendre une position critique au sein de l’art. Après avoir élaboré son travail autour des croyances cubaines d’origine africaine, établissant un lien entre le social, le religieux, le rituel et le mythe à partir de l’interprétation de symboles et la composition de métaphores poétiques, l’art est ainsi devenu pour lui une arme de confrontation et de dénonciation, un acte de foi dans la liberté et la démocratie. Vincench a créé et continue de réaliser une des œuvres les plus audacieuses, courageuses  et importantes de l’art contemporain cubain.

En 2019 son travail a été très remarqué à la Biennale de La Havane. Des œuvres de José Ángel Vincench appartiennent entre autres aux collections du Musée national des beaux-arts de La Havane, du Frost Museum à Miami, de la Fondation Rubin à New York, de la collection Perez à Miami, de la collection d'art UBS, de la Chris von Christierson Collection de Londres, de la collection Celia Birbragher à Miami, de la CIFO Collection à Miami et à de nombreuses collections privées dans le monde entier.

Born in Holguin, Cuba, in 1973. He attended the Elementary School of Plastic Arts of Holguín in Cuba, then the Higher School of the same city and finally the Higher Institute of Art of Havana.

Conceptual artist who, unlike Orthodox representatives of such a trend, has always intentionally preferred to "alter" his works with sociological, religious, and political content. His conceptualism is guided by questions about Cuban social life. An intellectual, rational, and analytical artist, he clearly tends to take a critical position within art. After having developed his work around Cuban beliefs of African origin, establishing a link between the social, the religious, the ritual and the myth from the interpretation of symbols and the composition of poetic metaphors, art thus became for him a weapon of confrontation and denunciation, an act of faith in freedom and democracy.

Vincench created and continues to produce one of the most daring, courageous, and important works of contemporary Cuban art. In 2019 his work was very noticed at the Biennale de La Havane. Works by José Ángel Vincench belong among others to the collections of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, the Frost Museum in Miami, the Rubin Foundation in New York, the Perez collection in Miami, the UBS art collection, the Chris von Christierson Collection in London, the Celia Birbragher Collection in Miami, the CIFO Collection in Miami and many private collections around the world.
