Willow Evann est né en 1985, il vit et travaille en Ile-de-France. Artiste protéiforme aux influences multiples, Willow Evann est plasticien, danseur et photographe. Incarnant un entre-deux, il est issu d’une cité de Bondy et originaire de la Côte d’Ivoire. Au coeur de sa pratique artistique, Willow Evann étudie ses origines et son identité, fruit de l'histoire coloniale africaine et française. Le travail de Willow Evann porte en majorité sur la représentation de personnes noires évoluant dans l'espace Occidental. Pour ce faire, l'artiste utilise plusieurs médiums mais le bois devient rapidement son matériau de prédilection. En effet, ce matériau qu'il apprend à manier seul devient entre ses mains une véritable métaphore du transport de la mémoire. "Je questionne le transport de la mémoire noire dans les espaces occidentaux. D'où venons-nous, où est notre place, nous la diaspora qui changeons de continent et refaisons notre vie sur une terre qui ne nous a pas vu naître ? Ma recherche est aussi fortement marquée par la représentation erronée de l'Homme noir dans l'espace occidental qui pousse à la discrimination." En 2020, l'artiste participe à l’exposition collective curatée par l’artiste JR au sein du Centquatre puis dans le cadre du Parcours Saint-Germain avec une installation photographique disposée dans l’espace public.

Willow Evann was born in 1985, he lives and works in Ile-de-France. A protean artist with multiple influences, Willow Evann is a visual artist, dancer and photographer. Embodying an in-between, he comes from a housing estate in Bondy and is originally from the Ivory Coast. At the heart of his artistic practice, Willow Evann studies his origins and his identity, fruit of the African and French colonial history. Willow Evann's work focuses on the representation of black people evolving in the Western space. To do this, the artist uses several mediums but wood quickly becomes his material of choice. Indeed, this material that he learns to handle alone becomes in his hands a real metaphor of the transport of memory. "I question the transport of black memory in Western spaces. Where do we come from, where do we belong, we the diaspora who change continents and remake our lives on a land that did not see us born? My research is also strongly marked by the misrepresentation of the Black Man in the Western space that pushes for discrimination." In 2020, the artist participates in the group exhibition curated by the artist JR within the Centquatre and then as part of the Parcours Saint-Germain with a photographic installation arranged in the public space.
