KITIKONG TILOKWATTANOTAI
THAILAND
PRESENTATION
Kitikong Tilokwattanotai was born in Lampang, Thailand in 1978. He lives and works in Chiang-Mai. Graduated in engraving from the University of Chiang Mai, he moved to Sydney, Australia in 2001 to obtain a Masters in Art & Design in 2003 at the University of New South Wales. Back in Chiang Mai in 2004, Tilokwattanotai taught applied engraving techniques to Art at Rajamangala University in Chiang Mai.
In 2014, he created the Art on Paper studio in Chiang Mai. This place of residence and exhibition welcomes Thai and international artists around artistic creation using monoprint and engraving techniques.
Tilokwattanotai works painting on canvas and printed mediums.
Tilokwattanotai's abstract work is based on capturing and memorizing his emotions. In the series displayed, Tilokwattanotai uses a pictorial technique based on successive brushstrokes causing accumulations of colored matter of varying thickness. The transparency and crystallinity of the layer of lacquer that he applies will then freeze these sediments whose appearance and color will take the spectator into a contemplative state.
